Qissass
Stories for children aged 4 to 9

Tonight, the hero of the story is Adam.

Qissass tells short bedtime stories in French and Arabic where your child is the main character. Each story helps with a real feeling, like anger, fear or jealousy, and shows a value that helps them through it.

Two languages, one story

The same story in French and in Arabic

Every story exists in both languages. Children hear Arabic words in context, fully vowelled so they are pronounced correctly, and can switch language whenever they want. In French stories, key Arabic terms such as sabr (patience) or rahma (mercy) are kept and explained.

French

Yasmine prend une grande respiration. Elle se souvient du mot que lui a appris sa grand-mère : sabr, la patience.

Arabic

تَأْخُذُ يَاسْمِين نَفَسًا عَمِيقًا، وَتَتَذَكَّرُ الكَلِمَةَ الَّتِي عَلَّمَتْهَا جَدَّتُهَا: الصَّبْر.

Listen, read, look

A warm voice, words that light up, gentle pictures

An expressive narrator reads each story aloud. Every word lights up as it is spoken, so early readers can follow along. Each page has an original watercolour illustration, drawn without faces, in keeping with Islamic artistic tradition.

Start from how they feel

Ten everyday feelings, each with a value to grow

Children pick how they feel tonight. Qissass chooses a story that names the feeling and shows a value from the Islamic tradition that helps with it, backed by a hadith or a Quran verse for parents.
